Occupational Therapy Update

Dear Hello Wonderful Talk On Clients,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you about some upcoming changes within the Occupational Therapy (OT) department here at Talk On.

Maria, who has been a valued member of our OT team, will be leaving Talk On to pursue a non-clinical position (not directly working with clients) as an occupational therapist. We wish her all the best in her new endeavors and thank her for her service during her time here. Maria's last day seeing clients will be May 31st. Your current schedule will continue until then.

With Maria's departure, we are excited to introduce Jasmin Phillips, our newest Occupational Therapist. Jasmin comes to us with a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set that will greatly benefit our clients. She holds certification in DIRFloortime, has SOS Feeding training, and she brings with her a strong background in sensory-focused practice methodology. We are confident that Jasmin will make significant contributions to the growth and development of our OT department, and we are thrilled to have her on board.

In addition to the staffing change, we would like to inform you of a structural adjustment to our scheduling system for OT. Starting in June, we will be transitioning to a “block” schedule format for OT appointments. Under this new system, clients will rotate in and out of 10-week blocks of 45-minute OT sessions. There will be one week intersessions in between each block for make up sessions and evaluations. It is important to note that speech therapy sessions will continue to be scheduled on an ongoing, repeating basis.

We believe that this block schedule approach will provide several benefits, including greater intensity of services, increased parent coaching opportunities and continuity of care for our clients. We understand that change can sometimes be challenging, but we are confident that this new scheduling format will ultimately enhance the quality of OT services we provide. Maria's last day seeing clients will be May 31st, 2024. Jasmin's first day seeing clients will be June 3rd, 2024.

This summer, Caitlin, our long term part-time OT, will also be seeing clients for one 9-week block of 45 minute sessions.

Our office will begin calling families during the week of April 29th-May 3rd, 2024 to schedule the first 9 or 10 week blocks with Jasmin and Caitlin. Slots are limited, so a waitlist will be developed for for families who are not able to get on the first block schedules. Please keep an eye out for communication from our office and respond as soon as you are able, as slots are likely to fill quickly.

We will be sending out a new policy form specific to the new OT block scheduling through our portal that must be filed out and submitted prior to starting sessions.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office at (330) 846-1800. We are here to support you and ensure a smooth transition during this time of adjustment.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we strive to provide the highest level of care to your children.

Sincerely,

Calley Mitchell
